WhatIf Networks has worked with education, government, small businesses and non-profits for many years, providing FirstClass environments and enhancing them with customizable tools.
My Courses Tool The My Courses Tool allows for the creation of FirstClass® containers, content, and access based upon the output of en external database, such as SIS. The education My Courses Tool is a call-when-needed application, usually run before the start of the next academic term. Upon activation, the My Courses Tool matches the student IDs to FirstClass® user accounts, and creates conferences, generates discussion areas, creates student dropboxes, and assigns appropriate permissions.
Lesson Planner Tool The original Lesson Planner goal was to provide a way for teachers to generate, share, and comment upon lesson plans within the school community. To this end, WIN developed a FCAS interface to a lesson plan database and an interface that allowed teachers to plan and share their lessons right from their FirstClass Desktops. Once faculty are comfortable with the lesson plans, they have the option of making it public to the FirstClass community and/or to a web portfolio. The Lesson Planner can also
been keyed to interact with an upcoming Course Scheduling Application.
Attendance Application The purpose of this tool is to track both student and teacher attendance in the FirstClass® system as well as in classes. The Attendance Workflow Application allows faculty to take attendance in all classes. On a dailybasis, the Attendance Office reviews the data submitted by the Attendance Application to verify that faculty have performed the task, and to look for trends within the data. Since the data is stored within a custom database with a series of FCAS views, trends are easily spotted. Since all attendance is referenced to both the faculty and the student, clear patterns can emerge at a glance.
Online Request Application The Online Request Application has been implemented in a number of forms for many of our clients. Through a custom FirstClass® form, users manage an online request form that sends enduser requests for information, applications, and other services directly to FirstClass mailboxes or conferences. The core form comes in two varieties: the control form and the receipt form. The control form manages the view endusers get in their browser, and the receipt form manages the view FirstClass® users get upon form submission. The form can be served as an iFrame in an external website.
WINCal WINCal is a dedicated, custom template set that can be uploaded to any FirstClass® server. With site preference control and site-specific includes, WINCal can serve any appropriately permissioned calendar as either a standalone Website or embedded in any other site through iFrame calls. WINCal supports embedded (punch-through) calendars, color-coded events, all standard views, and both events and tasks. Layout and color options allow you to customize the presentation to suit your needs.
